SUNY Adirondack Falls in Series Opener at Monroe CC, 15-1
ROCHESTER, N.Y. —
SUNY Adirondack was unable to recover from a 10-run first inning by Monroe Community College, falling 15-1 on Sunday in the opening game of the season-ending doubleheader.
Monroe CC struck early and often in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on a mix of timely hits and defensive miscues. The big blow came on a grand slam that gave the Tribunes early control of the game.
The Timberwolves got on the board in the top of the second when Morgan Randall delivered an RBI single, driving in the team's only run of the game. Randall, Maddy Wasserman, and Sam Manning each recorded one hit in the contest.
Sam Manning took the loss for SUNY Adirondack, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on six hits in one-third of an inning. EmmyLou Richards came on in relief and tossed 3.2 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.
SUNY Adirondack struggled to string together offense against Monroe's starter, who went five innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 10.
The Timberwolves will look to bounce back in the second game of the doubleheader, closing out their 2024 season.
