Timberwolves Can't Complete the Sweep at Onondaga, Lose 12-8
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Despite a five-run fourth inning and strong offensive contributions, SUNY Adirondack couldn't overcome Onondaga Community College, dropping Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader by a score of 12-8.
After briefly trailing early, the Timberwolves took the lead in the second inning. Natalie Conroy drove in a run with a lineout, followed by an RBI double from EmmyLou Richards to give SUNY Adirondack a 2-1 lead.
Onondaga responded with a big inning in the third to pull ahead 6-3. SUNY Adirondack countered in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits. Two errors helped bring in four runs, and Morgan Randall added an RBI double to give the Timberwolves an 8-6 lead.
Onondaga regained control with a six-run fifth inning, and SUNY Adirondack was unable to answer in the final frames.
Maddy Wasserman took the loss in the circle, allowing 12 runs on 11 hits over 4.1 innings. She struck out two and walked six.
Offensively, Emma Martens drove in three runs, going 1-for-3. Conroy led the Timberwolves with a 3-for-5 performance out of the leadoff spot, while Maddie Pincheon added two hits in three at-bats. Alyssa Jaffe drew two walks, and the team totaled five on the day.
SUNY Adirondack stayed aggressive on the base paths, stealing six bases—two each from Pincheon and Conroy. Defensively, the Timberwolves were excellent, turning four double plays and committing no errors. Conroy anchored the defense with nine putouts.
SUNY Adirondack split the doubleheader and will look to build on the effort in upcoming matchups.
