SUNY Adirondack Falls to Corning in High-Scoring Matchup
Queensbury, N.Y. –
Despite a strong day at the plate, SUNY Adirondack couldn't keep pace with a red-hot Corning Community College offense, falling 26-8 on Thursday afternoon.
Corning jumped out to an early lead with a big first inning, and though the Timberwolves answered with runs of their own in the first and second, the gap proved too wide to close.
Emma Martens got Adirondack on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI double, followed by a two-run homer to center from Maddy Wasserman. The Timberwolves continued to show fight in the second inning when Maddie Pincheon raced around the bases for a solo inside-the-park home run, and EmmyLou Richards added an RBI single.
Richards and Natalie Conroy led the way for the Timberwolves offensively, each collecting three hits. Wasserman and Conroy each drove in two runs, while Martens chipped in with two hits of her own. In total, SUNY Adirondack tallied 13 hits on the day.
Richards pitched 4.2 innings in relief, striking out three. Sam Manning started the game in the circle for Adirondack.
Though the final score didn't fall in their favor, the Timberwolves continued to show resilience at the plate and will look to bounce back as they head into the next stretch of games.
