Softball Drops Second Game of Doubleheader at Jefferson CC
Watertown, N.Y. –
SUNY Adirondack fell to SUNY Jefferson 13-1 in the second game of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon, as the Cannoneers used a 10-run second inning to take early control.
Despite a solid effort from the Timberwolves, SUNY Jefferson broke the game open in the top of the second, stringing together timely hits, patient at-bats, and taking advantage of Adirondack miscues to score 10 runs in the frame. The Cannoneers added three more runs in the third inning with RBI singles from Layla Killino, Danielle Birmingham, and Lia Canell.
Adirondack starter Sam Manning took the loss, allowing 12 runs (seven earned) over 2.1 innings. Manning also drove in the Timberwolves' lone run of the game. Offensively, Maddy Wasserman and Emma Martens each recorded a hit, batting back-to-back in the lineup.
On the mound for SUNY Jefferson, Sydney Tanner earned the win, holding Adirondack to two hits and one run over five innings with one strikeout and no walks.
Despite the outcome, the Timberwolves showed grit at the plate and in the field, continuing to build experience as they progress through the season.
SUNY Adirondack will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue regional play.
