RECAP: Men's Tennis Battles Through Tight Contests
The Men's Tennis team...
April 26, 2017
The men's varsity tennis team fell to a more experienced Broome CC on April 22 by a score of 0-9.
Two matches were very tightly contested, as Zach Potter in the #3 singles flight lost a close match to Broome's Aaron Williams 6-3, 6-3, and the #1 doubles team of Aiden Cawley and Jake House lost a tough match to Ben Gonzalez and second year player Cory Cadwell 8-6.
On April 23, the Timberwolves played Mohawk Valley CC away and recorded a 1-8
record.
Zach Potter continued his improving play in the #3 singles flight by recording a solid win over Mohawks veteran Spencer Connor 6-3, 1-6, 13-11!
The match was the final singles contest, and was marked with solid back and forth action from both contestants. Zach finished the match with a punishing, cross-court winner that Spencer was unable to reach! Congrats to Zach!
In doubles play, the #1 team of Aiden Cawley and Jake House lost a heartbreaker to Matt Larkin and Spencer Connor 11-9! The see-saw battle saw both teams grab and give up the lead throughout, and this kind of effort and improvement bodes well for the Regionals.
