Queensbury, N.Y. –
The SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves men's soccer team dropped their season home opener 6–1 against Jamestown Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the final score, the match was tightly contested in the first half. After falling behind 2–0, the Timberwolves responded with a moment of brilliance from forward Joe Wiah, who showcased his creativity and composure to slice through the Jamestown defense and bury a skillful goal, cutting the deficit to 2–1 heading into halftime.
The second half proved more difficult, as tired legs and inexperience caught up with the Timberwolves. Jamestown capitalized on their chances, pulling away to secure the 6–1 result.
The Timberwolves now turn their focus to a full week of preparation before returning home for another Region III matchup. SUNY Adirondack will host Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday, August 30 at 1 p.m. at the Timberwolves Soccer Field.
