Adirondack Pushes Defending Champs, Lose 86-74
UTICA, N.Y. —
The SUNY Adirondack men's basketball team delivered a strong road performance on Saturday night, falling 86–74 to Mohawk Valley Community College, the defending national champions and the 13th-ranked team in the nation.
The Timberwolves traded blows with Mohawk Valley throughout the second half, cutting the deficit to one possession on multiple occasions and forcing the hosts to execute late against sustained pressure.
Mohawk Valley's disciplined perimeter defense limited Adirondack's three-point opportunities, making it difficult for the Timberwolves to find clean looks from the outside despite consistent ball movement and effort.
Messiah McLaurin led Adirondack with 24 points, continuing his strong stretch of play against elite competition. Freshman David Hutchinson added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, providing a steady presence in the paint on both ends of the floor.
Despite the result, Adirondack's performance against one of the nation's top programs underscored the team's competitiveness and growth as Region III play continues.
