Timberwolves Men’s Basketball Falls in Tight Road Battle at Finger Lakes
ROCHESTER, NY —
Despite a fast start and a 22–4 lead early in the first half, the SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves Men's Basketball team came up just short on the road Wednesday night, dropping a 71–69 decision to Finger Lakes Community College. The loss moves ADK to 5–6 on the season.
After controlling the tempo early, the Timberwolves struggled to find offensive rhythm against the Lakers' 2–3 zone. SUNY ADK shot just 6-for-34 from the field following the opening surge and committed 19 turnovers — many unforced — allowing Finger Lakes to chip away and stay within striking distance.
"It's never easy to win on the road in this region," said the Timberwolves Head Coach, Maxx Sweet. "Hats off to Finger Lakes for how hard they played tonight — they earned this one."
In the closing seconds, ADK surrendered a four-point play that flipped a two-point lead into a two-point deficit. A final possession fell short as the Timberwolves were unable to convert at the buzzer.
Sophomore Mariano Dicaterino provided a big spark off the bench with 16 points, while fellow sophomore JP Dickerson recorded a strong double-double performance — 16 points and 11 rebounds — to lead the ADK backcourt.
The Timberwolves will look to regroup and bounce back as Region 3 play continues tomorrow at 12:00 as they face off against Cayuga CC on the road.
