Men’s Basketball Falls in Another Final Possession Thriller, 92-89, Against Bunker Hill CC
Queensbury, NY —
SUNY Adirondack Men's Basketball dropped another heart-stopping finish on Sunday afternoon, falling 92-89 to Bunker Hill Community College—marking the Wolves' third straight loss decided on the final possession, and their third loss by a combined total of just nine points.
Bunker Hill, who returned the nation's leading scorer from last season (28.2 PPG), entered the matchup as one of the top national contenders in NJCAA Division III. The Wolves' defense answered the challenge, holding last year's national scoring champion to just 15 points—well below his normal production.
This one was back-and-forth throughout, with multiple lead changes deep into the closing minutes. Down three in the final seconds, sophomore guard Moose McLaurin had a clean look from the left wing at the buzzer that rolled off the rim, just inches away from forcing overtime. McLaurin finished with 12 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds while orchestrating the offense down the stretch.
Sophomore guard JP Dickerson delivered another strong outing, continuing his efficient scoring run with 24 points and 12 rebounds, shooting over 50% from the field for the fourth straight game.
"We're right there," said Coach Maxx Sweet. "We're competing with nationally elite programs possession-by-possession. Now it's about finishing those last 30 seconds cleaner—and we will."
The Wolves continue non-conference play this week as they look to bounce back and capitalize on the momentum from three straight high-level performances in tight situations.
