SUNY Adirondack Falls in Heartbreaker to Clinton Community College, 85-83
PLATTSBURGH, NY —
SUNY Adirondack Men's Basketball suffered a tough loss on the road Wednesday night, falling 85-83 to Clinton Community College in a dramatic finish.
The Timberwolves came out flat to start, struggling offensively and falling behind 46-30 at halftime. Clinton closed the first half on a decisive 12-1 run, taking control of the momentum heading into the locker room. Adirondack was without starting point guard Messiah "Moose" McLaurin, who missed the contest, and the offense felt the absence early as shots simply wouldn't fall.
Despite the difficult start, the Timberwolves showed great resilience and fight down the stretch. Adirondack clawed their way back possession by possession in the second half, and with just two seconds remaining, freshman guard, Oscar Lilac, buried a clutch three-pointer to tie the game — drawing a foul on the play. Lilac stepped to the line with a chance to take the lead, but the free throw narrowly missed. Clinton immediately pushed the ball down the floor and hit a runner at the buzzer to escape with the two-point victory.
A tough result — but another example of Adirondack's toughness, composure, and never-quit mentality.
The Timberwolves will look to regroup and bounce back in their next contest as they continue Mountain Valley Conference play.
