Timberwolves Fall to SUNY Broome 11-2 in Final Home Game of the Season
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. —
SUNY Adirondack struggled to keep pace with SUNY Broome Community College in an 11-2 loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, marking the final home game of the season for the Timberwolves.
The Hornets broke the scoring ice in the third inning when Santino Michitti singled, bringing in the game's first run. From there, SUNY Broome's offense continued to roll. The Timberwolves couldn't contain the Hornets' bats, as the visitors piled up 14 hits in total.
Jacob McTigue earned the win for SUNY Broome, going the distance with seven strong innings. McTigue allowed just two runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking three. On the other hand, SUNY Adirondack's Ben Viggiani took the loss, surrendering six runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out three and walking two.
Offensively for the Timberwolves, Peyton Richardson, Christian Mikulski, Tommy Bishop, Dylan Cavanaugh, and Aiden Parslow each collected one hit. Mikulski and Cody Nelson each drove in one run for SUNY Adirondack.
For SUNY Broome, McTigue led the way with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate. Carmelo Alessandro and Kaiden Cannistra also contributed multiple hits in the game. The Hornets' aggressive baserunning saw them steal five bases, with Jason Kithcart Jr. swiping two of those.
Despite a solid effort from the Timberwolves, SUNY Broome's offensive firepower proved too much, and SUNY Adirondack couldn't mount a comeback. The game wrapped up the home schedule for the Timberwolves, and they will now look to regroup as they head into the final stretch of the season.
