SUNY Adirondack Completes Sweep with 13-3 Victory Over Columbia-Greene
HUDSON, N.Y. —
SUNY Adirondack closed out a dominant doubleheader sweep with a 13-3 win over Columbia-Greene Community College on Friday.
The Timberwolves wasted no time getting on the board, jumping to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Tommy Bishop led off the scoring with an RBI single, followed by Charlie Gendron's two-run single. Dylan Cavanaugh added another run with his RBI single, and Cody Nelson capped the rally with a sacrifice fly.
SUNY Adirondack added an insurance run in the second inning thanks to a Columbia-Greene error before breaking the game wide open in the fifth with six runs on four hits. The Timberwolves benefitted from a combination of walks, timely hits, and errors. Gendron, Ryan Reagan, and Azar Brantley each collected RBIs during the frame, and Aiden Parslow added a run with a groundout.
Tyler Scorzelli earned the win for SUNY Adirondack, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out five without issuing a walk. Keegan Choinski took the loss for Columbia-Greene, surrendering 13 runs (eight earned) on seven hits over six innings.
Reagan provided the offensive pop, driving in two runs with a 1-for-3 performance. Bishop led the team with two hits, finishing 2-for-4. The Timberwolves displayed strong plate discipline, walking seven times in the game, with Peyton Richardson and Christian Mikulski each drawing two walks. Bishop and Cavanaugh were aggressive on the bases, each stealing multiple bases, as the team totaled six stolen bases on the day.
Columbia-Greene was led offensively by Austin Blessing, who went 2-for-3 and drove in one run. Aiden Gfroerer and Chris Echols also drove in a run apiece for Columbia-Greene, who stole three bases in the game.
With the win, SUNY Adirondack completed the sweep and improved their record as they head into their next matchup.
