SUNY Adirondack Drops Game Two at Herkimer, 15-5
HERKIMER, N.Y. — The SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves fell 15-5 in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Herkimer Generals, who rode an 11-run first inning to complete the sweep.
SUNY Adirondack got on the board first when Christian Mikulski singled home a run in the top of the first, but Herkimer responded immediately—and emphatically. The Generals sent 15 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning, scoring 11 runs on six hits. The rally was capped by a grand slam to center field off the bat of Zowen Collins.
Herkimer extended its lead in the second inning with a two-run double play ball and a solo home run from Shiryu Sato, making it 14-1. They tacked on one more run in the third when Dylan Wolfson singled down the left-field line on an 0-2 pitch.
SUNY Adirondack pushed across four more runs throughout the game, with RBIs from Charlie Gendron, Chase Refici, Mikulski, and Cody Nelson. Despite the offensive efforts, the early deficit was too large to overcome.
Chase Refici took the loss for the Timberwolves, allowing 11 runs on six hits in one inning, while walking five and striking out one. Ryan Reagan provided three innings of relief, allowing four unearned runs on three hits while striking out three.
Offensively, the Timberwolves were led by Caleb Nelson, Gendron, Mikulski, and Reagan, each collecting a hit. The team also turned one double play on defense.
Herkimer tallied nine hits and showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks. Collins led the Generals with four RBIs, while Jacob Severson, Marvin Hill, and Wolfson each notched two hits. Hugo Kohnhorst drew three walks, and the Generals stole three bases as part of their aggressive approach on the base paths.
