Timberwolves Defeat Hudson Valley 7-4 in Upset Victory

The SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves delivered a big upset with a 7-4 win over Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday, April 19th, in a thrilling match.
The Timberwolves took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Charlie Gendron doubled to score two runs. Later in the inning, Jack Taylor reached on a fielder's choice, bringing in another run for a 3-0 advantage.
SUNY Adirondack extended their lead in the second when Christian Mikulski singled down the left-field line, pushing the score to 4-0.
Hudson Valley answered with a run in the third and added another in the fifth, but SUNY Adirondack maintained their lead throughout the game.
Caleb Nelson earned the win for the Timberwolves, tossing a complete game over seven innings. Nelson allowed seven hits and four runs, striking out six and walking six to keep the Hudson Valley offense in check. Stolov took the loss for Hudson Valley after pitching just 1.2 innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Gendron played a key role in the Timberwolves' offense, driving in three runs while going 2-for-4 at the plate. Mikulski also contributed with a key RBI single, while the rest of the lineup kept the pressure on with timely hits.
For Hudson Valley, Norman led the offense with two RBIs, going 1-for-4. Connolly, the number eight hitter, stood out with three hits in three at-bats, and DeSanto added two hits. Connolly also stole two bases, showcasing the Cannoneers' aggressive baserunning.
The Timberwolves' strong early lead and Nelson's dominant pitching were enough to seal the upset victory over the region's #2-ranked team.
