SUNY Adirondack took the lead late in the game in a 16-11 victory over Jefferson on Tuesday. The game was tied at seven with Adirondack batting in the top of the fifth when Jeffrey Stearns homered on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs.
Stearns led Adirondack to victory by driving in five runs. Stearns went 3-for-3 at the plate. Stearns drove in runs on a single in the first and a home run in the fifth. SUNY Adirondack got on the board in the first inning when Stearns singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Jefferson tied things up at seven. After Adirondack scored five runs in the top of the third, Jefferson answered with five of their own. SUNY Adirondack scored when Lorenzo Lombardo singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Wyatt Cozzy lined out, driving in a run, and Terel Tillman doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Benjamin Hajos led the Timberwolves to victory on the mound. Hajos allowed two hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Josh Nelson and Tillman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Hunter Chandler started the game for SUNY Adirondack. The right-hander went two and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out three.
