2016 Men's and Women's Cross-Country Teams Produce Two All-Americans
The SUNY Adirondack men's and women's cross-country teams had a very successful 2016 season. In just the second year of the program, two All-Americans were crowned at this year's NJCAA Division III National Championship meet. On the men's side, Jason Linendoll finished fourth in the championship meet, earning first team All-American status. In addition, Jason won both the Mountain Valley league championship meet and the NJCAA Region III championship meet. Jason also earned the NJCAA Most Valuable Runner award for the Northeastern United States. Brian Halligan, SUNY Adirondack's #2 runner, also finished the season strong, placing 17th in the national championships, missing All-American Honorable Mention by two places. The men's team as a whole made vast improvements throughout the season and finished fourth overall in the Mountain Valley Conference Championships.
On the women's side, SUNY Adirondack did not field a full team. However, freshman Amber DeCrescente earned All-American second team status by placing 7th in the NJCAA Division III National Championships. Amber also placed second in both the Mountain Valley Championships and the NJCAA Region III championship meet.
